Checked into Love by Rochelle Paige #5-star #REVIEW

Title: Checked Into Love
Series: Bachelorette Party Book 2
Author: Rochelle Paige
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: April 3, 2017

Cecily Thompson swore off men a year ago.

There’s only been one man who’s tempted her to end the drought… hockey hottie Jason Campbell. He had her rethinking her stance on dating, but a misunderstanding quickly sent her running in the opposite direction.

Jason hasn’t been able to get Cecily off his mind.

Not a single night has gone by without dreams of the fiery redhead he met in a bar months ago. When he finally sees her again at a friend’s bachelorette party, he’s ready to do what it takes to keep her right where she belongs… by his side.

Checked Into Love can be read as a standalone. Each book in the Bachelorette Party series features a different couple. And if you've read the Blythe College series, you'll see some familiar faces from there, too!

My best advice to you is to one-click this fabulous read right now. You will not regret it. Rochelle is one of those authors that writes in a way that the story just comes alive for you. I could feel the instant attraction Cecily and Jason felt when they first met. I felt Cecily's disappointment when she walked into an unwanted situation. I felt Jason's frustration while he waited to find Cecily again.

Of course, their relationship couldn't be perfect, there had to be some bumps in the road. I was right there with them experiencing their emotions with them. It's one of those books that I look forward to reading again so I can experience it all again.

NOTE: I have read the first in the series, and most of the Blythe College books. However, it has been a while. I did recognize a few of the characters, I this book could easily be read as a stand alone.

Who in the hell did he think he was? He might have been the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my life—one who’d messed with my head enough to make my self-imposed break from men last ridiculously long, even though my career was flourishing—but that didn’t mean he had the right to tell me what to do.

“Why the fuck wouldn’t I? I’m not your girlfriend. I’m just some woman you talked to for a few hours nine months ago. I’m surprised you even remember my name.”

“I remember a fuck of a lot more than your name, Cecily,” he rumbled.

“Cee-Cee,” I snapped. “Nobody but my family calls me Cecily.”

“If you didn’t want me to think of you that way, you shouldn’t have introduced yourself to me as Cecily.”

He made an excellent point, one I’d wondered about myself quite a few times. I never gave my full name when I met new people, not even in a professional setting. Yet, that’s exactly what I’d done with him. I’d been surprised when my name had slipped out of my mouth back then, and I still wasn’t sure why I’d done it, except that it had felt right at the moment.

Maybe it was because I’d wanted him to see me as a Cecily, a woman who was more mysterious and sophisticated than fun-loving Cee-Cee. Or it could have just been because Cecily sounded sexier than Cee-Cee. Either way, it apparently hadn’t mattered because he’d easily forgotten about my existence in the few minutes I was in the bathroom.

“Fine,” I huffed. “You can call me whatever you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m nobody important to you.”

“Only because you pulled a disappearing act on me!”

His deep blue eyes flared, in what looked like barely suppressed rage mixed with a hint of hurt. But that didn’t make any sense considering what I’d seen with my own two eyes that night. “I didn’t think you’d care. You seemed happy enough with that brunette at the bar when I came out of the bathroom.”

“The brunette at the bar,” he echoed softly, the anger in his expression oddly replaced by a flash of humor as he chuckled wryly. “All that time, wasted over a simple misunderstanding. It fucking figures.”

Game Ender by BJ Harvey #5-star #review

Title: Game Ender
Series: Game Series #4 – The series finale
Author: BJ Harvey
Genre: Romantic Comedy with Heat
Release Date: April 17, 2017
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber Designs

From USA Today bestselling author BJ Harvey comes the fourth and final book in the Game series and this time it's the reformed playboy and the single mom.

"You have chlamydia."

Three words no man wants to hear.

I've always been liberal with my appreciation of the female form, a firm believer in the 'try before you buy' principle, but living life to the fullest obviously didn't end well for me considering the unexpected—and very unwelcome—consequence of my free and easy past.

After living through the horrendous experience that was informing my recent sexual partners of my acquired 'condition,’ I made a vow to myself – and a bet with my best friend—that the next woman I sleep with will be the ‘one.’

What I will learn is that even when something happens and the games come to an end, there's always the chance of something—or someone—crashing in and changing everything.

So this is my story. It may start with a venereal disease, but I promise you, I’m determined to get my happy ending.

I cannot say enough about this amazing book. I know it sounds like I'm going overboard with the praise, but it was just such a good story.  I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't put it down until I was finished. It was one of those books you finish in one day just because you can't stop reading.

I know it's wrong to laugh at Thomas's misfortune, but the situation was just funny. The player finally had to face some consequences for his actions. It took a medical diagnosis to male him take a look at his life and change his ways.

Amy's situation, however, threw me for a loop. I did not see her plot twist coming. She is so lucky to have such great friends that support her through this life changing event.

Thomas and Amy come together in such a surprising way. It would be hard for them to not feel connected. I loved experiencing their friendship grow into so much more.  I say experiencing because I feel like I was right there with them, through all the highs and lows. Sharing their live as their story developed.

NOTE: I have read the first book in the series, but not any others. However, it has been quite a while since I read Game Player (free at time of posting) so I don't remember much of it.  Game Ender read as a stand-alone without any issues.

“I’ve narrowed it down to five reasons why a woman would throw a drink at a man.”

He leans back and crosses his perfectly toned arms over his chest.

“Impart your wisdom, oh wise bartender.” He takes another drink of his beer and—yet again—watching me like a hawk. I wish he’d stop watching me.

My confidence wavers under his intense stare but when I catch a knowing glint in his eye, it riles me up. There’s nothing worse than a guy who hides his unease behind a cocky fa├žade, especially when I know there’s something genuine hiding there.

It’s one of the worst qualities a guy can have. It’s disingenuous and fake and if there’s two things I hate—in anyone—it’s that.

I square my shoulders and stand up straight, deciding to let him have it, putting my hands out in front of me to count on my fingers.

“One, you cheated on her.” He shakes his head, an amused smile playing on his lips.

“Nope. Next.”

“Two, connected to the first, you hooked up with her sister, best friend or mother . . .” He snorts at that one, chuckling under his breath as he shakes his head again.

“Right, then, the last three,” I continue. “Three through five are offending her family/job/friends or outfit, asking her to pay for your date and lastly, giving her an STD.”

His eyes grow wide and he sits bolt upright.

Bingo.
