Bittersweet by Sunday James Blog Tour with 41/2 star review
When a TV production company decides Dogwood, Virginia is the perfectlocation to shoot their new teen series Bittersweet, the town is abuzz withexcitement. But twenty-one-year-old local girl Cathy Johnson has too muchgoing on in her life to waste time being star-struck. Her mother walked out onthe family when Cathy was a young girl and her brother Carl was barely outof diapers. She’s always felt a sense of responsibility to help raise him, and skipped college after graduation following her father Joe’s life-threateningheart attack. Now three years later, she works full-time in the familyrestaurant to help make ends meet. Life hasn’t exactly been peachy, but Cathyis OK with it. She loves her hometown, and doesn’t want some fancy TVshow coming in and changing everything. To her, ‘bittersweet’ is just theword that sums up her love life after her relationship with her high schoolsweetheart ended in disaster. But since then she’s hardly had time to brushher hair, let alone think about romance – even the kind being played out infront of the cameras by twenty-something actors posing as teenagers.
But all that changes for Cathy when charming, intense, impossibly sexy outsider Greg Moran arrives in Dogwood along with the Bittersweet cast andcrew. She and the mysterious New Yorker have undeniable chemistry, but ifCathy thought she was guarded…? Greg blows hot (very, very hot) and coldwith her romantically, leaving Cathy’s head in a spin. If she’s willing to dropher emotional walls, why can’t he? What is it in Greg’s past – or present – thatmeans he’s keeping her at arm’s length?
One thing’s for certain: Cathy and Greg are magnetically drawn to oneanother, but they’ll have to fight to keep their relationship from turning sour.
If it’s hard to let go of the past, falling in love can be BITTERSWEET…
I absolutely loved this contemporary romance story. There was just something about Cathy that drew me in. I just wanted her to have her HEA.
Cathy grew up in a small town, waitressing at her father's diner and helping raise her little brother. It's a typical small town, where everyone knows everyone else business. Nothing exciting happens ... ever.
Until there is a new TV show being filmed in town.
Greg comes to town as part of the show. Greg and Cathy meet...sparks fly... she thinks things are moving in the right direction... and then.. BAM! He backs off. There were so many times I wanted to smack him. You could tell he felt something for Cathy, but something was holding him back from exploring that. He was so hot and cold it drove me nuts. You could tell there was something holding him back. I had to keep reading until I figured out exactly what that was.
While he's trying to figure himself out, poor Cathy is so confused. She has no idea what to think. The emotional roller coaster he had her on was frustrating to me, but it was fun to read about at the same time.
I look forward to reading more about Cathy and Greg.
