James had plans for his life. Then they were derailed by the surprise arrival of his daughter. His life revolved around her. Then she arrived with her beautiful brown hair that was made to wrap around his wrist, a butt that was to die for in a tight pair of jeans. Nevertheless, he didn’t need any more drama in his life. His ex-girlfriend was stirring enough of that up for ten women. Yet, there was something about her that soothed the soul.
Shiloh’s made it her life’s mission to protect the innocent children she can from the big, bad, scary things that lurk in the darkness. She has an inane curiosity for life and craves knowledge. Which is why when she starts poking around in her father’s business, she inadvertently starts something in to motion that threatens her very existence. Her father, the one man that was always supposed to be there for her, drops her off with a brother she never knew she had and leaves. Making her question the father she obviously never really knew at all. Then she meets him, and she doesn’t think her life’s so bad after all. The sexy biker turned SWAT officer sets her nerve cells to igniting, and she relishes in every single second of it.
He knew life could change in an instant. One soul crushing instant. When he’s presented with the aspect of losing Shiloh before he’s ever even had her, he decides it’s time to grip life by the handlebars and ride it like he stole it. Then that threat not only touches his woman, but his daughter. And there’s no power on God’s green earth that can protect them from a father’s wrath.
Music has a lot to do with what I write. When I’m in need of a particular sad mood, I go to my go-to sad songs that will put me into that place that I need to be to write a particular scene. Or if, for instance, I am in need of a song to write about a man dancing to, I have to listen to a song that helps me explain how his hips move. :)
1. We Belong Together- Gavin Degraw
-James and Shiloh have a misunderstanding when that has a lot to do with their well meaning friends and family. This was one of the songs I listened to when I was writing a particularly scene in the book when they finally realize what is going on.
2. She fuckin’ Hates Me- Puddle of Mudd
3. I’m From the Country- Tracy Byrd.
-This one cracks me up, because I always think of James having that ‘I don’t give a fu*k’ attitude. The type where he does what he wants and says what he wants regardless of the consequences.
4. I Don’t Dance- Lee Brice
-This one is perfect for James. He’s a take no prisoners type of man. He does what he does with no regrets. Unless your Janie or Shiloh. ‘Cause then you have him wrapped around your little finger, and he’ll do absolutely anything with you. Even if that’s watching Frozen 18 times a day, or watching a chick flick. :)
5. You Got It Bad- Usher
-There’s a particular scene in the book where this one was necessary to watch. Over and over again. Ya know, for authenticities sake and all!
Although this book is part of a series, I have NOT read the other books. The only issued this caused me was keeping track of the characters in the beginning. Several characters were introduced in the first couple of chapter and I had trouble keeping track of them. Once I sorted out who was with who and how they all fit together, I was able to enjoy this as a stand alone. I enjoyed this book enough that the other 4 books have moved to the top of my TBR list. . Just from what I have read about each of the characters in this book, I already feel connected to each of them and want to know more about them all. If they are written as well as this one was, it won't take me long to get sucked into each one
James is the perfect book boyfriend. He has a tough, alpha male side to him. The one that protects what is important to him, doesn't put up with anyone's crap, and goes after what he wants. Then there is the soft side that everyone loves. He's the caring father that his daughter deserves. I loved seeing their interactions throughout the story.
There was just the right amount of suspense to keep me at the edge of my seat without over powering the romance developing between James and Shiloh.
I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great romance with a little action.
