This Much is True by Katherine Owen Blog Tour

~SYNOPSIS~

This Much Is True

Fate brings them together
Fame & lies keep them apart
One truth remains…

She’s become the Paly High girl with the most tragic story…
At 17, Tally Landon just wants to graduate and leave for New York to pursue ballet. Her best friend Marla convinces her to attend one last party—a college party—where she can be among strangers and evade the whisperings about the heartbreaking loss of her twin that follows her everywhere she goes. She meets Lincoln Presley, Stanford’s famous baseball wonder and has a little fun at his expense—when she lies about her age and who she really is—intent on being someone else for the night and escaping her tragic story.

His only focus is baseball, but he can’t forget the girl he saved on Valentine’s Day…
At 22, Lincoln Presley’s star is on the rise—about to finish at Stanford and expected to be taken early in Major League Baseball’s upcoming draft—his cousin’s party serves as a welcome distraction. But then, he sees the girl from Valentine’s Day that he saved from that horrific car accident and can’t quite hide his disappointment when she appears to look right through him and not remember him at all. He vows to learn her name at least before he leaves. What’s the harm in getting to know this girl? What’s the worst that can happen?

Fate soon tests these star-crossed lovers in all kinds of ways...
And yet, despite the lies being told to protect the other, and the trappings of fame that continually separate them, and in lieu of the deception by those they’ve come to trust the most; one truth remains.

This much is true.

Caution: This title contains some strong language, some violence, and some sexual situations and is intended for readers 18+ in age.

~MY REVIEW~

OMG! I will warn you, if you read this book, have a box of Kleenex close by. You are definitely going to need them. I was gasping, saying "Oh God, no!" at the end of the first chapter. I got a reprieve in the second because it was from Linc's POV. But I swear I was in tears through most of the third chapter, but that wasn't the only time I was crying throughout this book. At one point, I had to put it down and walk away just to stop sobbing.

Linc and Tally were amazing characters. Both felt the pressure from family to be perfect at their sport. Both families lost members which kicked that pressure up a notch (or two). Both are VERY talented and willing to do anything to succeed, including giving up everything.

Linc and Tally were in a car accident one dark, rainy night. Linc was able to save Tally, but, unfortunately, Tally's twin sister, Holly, didn't make it (that scene was heart-wrenching and hard to read). Immediately, Linc felt connected to Tally, but Tally was too concerned about her sister to take notice to anything or anyone around her.

Throughout the book, their lives cross. They have moments of happiness, but there is always something keeping them apart. A lot of lies are told. Linc declares his love, Tally shows it by the sacrifices she makes for him. My heart broke for them so many times.

As the end approached, I was so afraid the two of them wouldn't get their HEA. I'm not going to tell you if they did or not. You'll want to read to find out, and believe me, you don't want to miss the emotional book.

~EXCERPT~

The effects of spiked punch begin to descend upon me. I again glance over at covetous actions of Charlie Masterson, who is now having a heated discussion with my best friend on the other side of the room, gesturing this way and that towards the more-than-casually-interested first guy, who gyrates on the dance floor by himself.

I start towards Marla, but she waves me off. Unsure of what I should be doing, I find myself in the middle of the dance floor. Alone. To hide my embarrassment at being caught up alone in the middle of the room, I pretend to take an ever-increasing interest in the sparkling lights that someone has meticulously trailed along the ceiling’s edge. A little glazed now, the lights shimmer at me; I swill my drink in salutation. The interested guy from earlier stands in front of me again.

Tall. Dark. Handsome. He is the cliché for sex on a stick, but he’s kept me company during the past half-hour. I brazenly take in this male-model look he has going on with his dark-brown wavy hair and his devastating, too-white smile and his tall lean body. Sure. Okay. Bring it on.

“I’m Linc,” he says during a respite from the loud music.

“As in President Abraham—”
“Not funny.” He sighs and shakes his head side-to-side and gets this disconcerted look. “Lincoln Presley.”

“Elvis is in the building then,” I deadpan.
He looks taken aback now. “What did you say?”
“I said…” I lose my train of thought because he is stunning—so good-looking, in fact—that these warning bells seem to go off in my head. I shake it to try to shut them off. “Never mind.” His look is weirding me out as if I know him from somewhere. “You remember,” I say softly. “Elvis?”

“I remember,” he says slowly and gets this expectant look. “Do you remember?”
I’m just staring at him open-mouthed. “No. My mom loved him when she was a teenager. I like a few of his songs…” My voice trails off because he looks disappointed by my answer, and I’m not sure why.
“Don’t you remember?” he asks again.
“Remember what?” I look at him blankly and then break his gaze and start toward the punch bowl for a fifth round.

He takes the glass from my hand and then hands me bottled water. “Drink this. That stuff has Everclear in it. You shouldn’t have any more of that unless you’re going for anesthetization.”
“Gallant. How noble of you,” I say with as much sarcasm as I can. Then I shake off his concerned hand on my arm, uncap the bottled water, and drink it down. “Happy now?”

He nods slowly and eventually smiles and then proceeds to take me in from head-to-toe in one long, practiced, seductive move. Smooth. I laugh because he’s so blatant about his interest in me now.
“How are you?” he asks when the music stops playing for a few welcome seconds.Odd.
An odd thing to ask of a stranger.
“I’m fine.” I give him a bewildered what-the-hell-are-you-asking-me-that-for? look.
He leans in. “Who are you?”

“Oh.” I half-smile. “Holly,” I say with an airy wave of my right hand. The lie comes so easily to my lips that I surprise myself with the ease in which I tell it.

Torn From You by Nashoda Rose Blog Tour + Giveaway

~SYNOPSIS~

Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.

At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.

Kidnapped.
Starved.
Tied up like a piece of meat then whipped.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me. I was wrong. Sculpt was there to break me.

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content.

No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream's story (the band's lead guitarist).

~MY REVIEW~

OMG! Once I started this book I had a terrible time putting it down. I stayed up WAAAYYYY too late last night reading it because I just had to know what happened. Please listen to the warning though, there was definitely some disturbing and sexual situations. There is abuse of women and sexual slavery. It's a dark read, that's for sure, but it's a good one. If you liked the Consequences by Aleatha Romig, you will probably like this one too.

It starts out with a great love scene, where Emily finally decides to give herself over to Sculpt. It's a wonderful chapter. Then it all changes. The second chapter starts out with her locked in a basement, not knowing how she got there.
When she is finally allowed out of the basement, it's not good. And then she hears his voice... Sculpt... the man she was lovingly giving herself to not more than a couple days before. She thought he was there to help her. She was wrong. Dead wrong. He's part of this twisted world where women are treated as sex slaves. She was kidnapped to be his slave.
There were so many times I gasped as I read. I couldn't believe the things that were done. I felt so bad for Emily and the other, mainly nameless, women in the book. Even though she was to be his slave, you could tell there was something more there. He looked out for her, protected her when he could. He even warned her, repeatedly, of the consequences of misbehavior at certain, critical times.

The story is not all dark and twisted though. There was a sweet, romantic story too. Sculpt was also a victim in all of this. He did things he didn't want to do, but was forced to because of circumstances beyond his control.

Can their relationship overcome all that happens?  You'll have to read to find out. This book is definitely worth reading.

~EXCERPT~

I scrambled out of his arms so fast that I fell off the bed. When I came to my feet Logan was lying on his back an arm casually laid over his abdomen. He turned slightly to look at me, and I felt the coldness in his gaze trickle over me.

“Go shower, Emily.” He nodded to the right where I saw a door.

I didn’t think twice about following his orders as I ran to the refuge of the bathroom, but before I could shut the door he said, “Leave it open.”

My hand dropped from the door handle even though all I wanted to do was slam it shut and lock it; of course there was no lock to keep him out. Regardless, a deadbolt wouldn’t keep Logan out. I suspected nothing would.

In a way, that was partly why I fell for him. He was determined and focused.

Unfathomable. He was confident with no fear. A steady resolve as if nothing could break him. It was a scary hot, and it made me feel protected. Now . . . it scared me. Because now I didn’t trust him.

I started to undo the buttons of my white nightgown he’d given me to wear, and when I looked in the mirror I gasped. He could see me. From the bed he watched me in the mirror undressing. His hands were locked behind his head, and his face was unreadable as he stared.

My fingers fumbled on the buttons, and it took me several tries to get the last one undone. I closed my eyes as I slid the silk material off my shoulders and let it drop to the floor. I wasn’t going to look at him, I tried to stop myself, but I opened my eyes and froze.

Heat. Blazing desire in the dark depths of his eyes. He looked me up and down slowly, casually as if he had all the time in the world . . . And he did. He controlled everything about me now.

Kiss Me at Midnight Release Day Event + Giveaway

Kiss Me At Midnight by Diane Alberts
Entangled Publishing - December 2013

~BOOK SUMMARY~

Her New Year’s resolution was seduction.

Doctor Ashley Hanes has one mission and one mission only—end her annoyingly long dry streak and ring in the New Year with a bang. Literally. When her long lost and oh-so-sexy ex-best friend, Ethan Pierce, shows up as if he hadn’t broken her heart all those years ago, suddenly she doesn’t want to bring home just any man. She wants Ethan.

What should have been one night of blow-your-mind make-up sex quickly turns into another. And another. Before long, Ashley thinks maybe she and Ethan should reunite for good. If only the elusive bachelor will stop running from his tortured past and trust a future in Ashley’s arms.

~MY REVIEW~

Ashley and Ethan were great friends throughout high school, until one day Ethan becomes a jerk towards. Ashley has no idea what she had done to deserve the rejection by him and tried, repeatedly, to mend the friendship. Right after graduation, Ethan leaves town, only coming back to visit his family for the holidays.

Finally, years later,  Ashley heard that Ethan was back in town and was possibly headed to a local bar for New Years Eve. She decided she wanted to see him again so she convinced her friend to go to the bar with her. Ethan approaches Ashley, not realizing it is her, hoping for a one-night-stand.  Once he realizes who it is, they talk and agree to one night, no strings attached.
After one night though, neither of them have had enough. Ethan is only in town for a couple more days. At the end of his visit, will they be able to walk away?
This was a great, quick read. I loved every moment of this touching love story.

Conflicted Love by Lola Stark Blog Tour

Conflicted Love
Book #2 Needle's Kiss Series

~Synopsis~

(Conflicted Love is book #2 in the Needle's Kiss series and should be read AFTER Tattered Love to fully grasp the story.)

Trip’s life motto is simple: get in, get off, get out. His lifestyle works for him, that is until he finds himself in an unexpected situation with the one girl he can't seem to get out of his mind.

Teeny has been strong for too long. One amazing crazy night, with her best friend's cocky colleague, leaves her with more than just unwanted feelings and cravings she just can’t seem to quench.

She's knocked up.

He's freaked out.

Life is about to get crazy for two people who can't stand to be close, yet can't seem to pull apart. Tension and confusion turn into mood swings and midnight snacks. How can things ever go back to simple times when every direction leads to chaos?

~My Review~

First of all, this is the second in the series. I tried to read this without reading the first one and let me tell you, it didn't work. I only lasted halfway through the first chapter before I decided I needed to read Tattered Love first (which I loved).

I absolutely loved Trip. Yes, he's a player, yes, he had some issues dealing with the fact that Teeny was pg with his child. However, once he accepted things, he became an absolutely wonderful man. I did feel bad for him, he was caught off guard with the pregnancy after all. And Teeny wasn't all that sure about things either.
Watching the two of them develop from 2 individuals who can't seem to be in the same room without an issue into an expecting couple was just heart wrenching.  You definitely felt Teeny's mistrust of Trip and Trip's eventual willingness to do anything to prove to Teeny that he would be for her, forever.  Will he be able to convince her? You'll have to read to find out. Believe me, it's worth it.
Mace and Scar are in this book a lot too.  How can they not be?  Seeing that relationship continue to grow  made my heart warm. They are a great couple and they deserve happiness.

~Excerpt~

Twenty minutes late and running out of patience I reached in quickly undid her belt and picked her up, ignoring her squeal of surprise I pulled her purposefully flush against me one hand full of lush ass the other on her hip.

Lowering my head to her neck I took a deep breath in, catching the soft vanilla scent of her blonde hair taking as much as I could get I gently bit her earlobe then ran my lips over the same spot.

“Don’t push me, Princess. I’m clear out of give a fucks and my dick's so hard it could hammer nails. Move that sweet ass before I bend it over and fuck it into oblivion” I growled in her ear driving the point home with a quick swat to her ass.

Making sure her feet were on the ground I let go and stalked for the house adjusting my now very tight in the crotch jeans. I also didn’t miss the soft moan from Teeny before she cleared her throat and mumbled something about assholes and penis trucks then stomped up the sidewalk.
